How West Got Here:
Thanks for checking in on the campaign. I’m running to represent you, so it’s only fair that I tell you a bit about myself.
I grew up in the Yadkin Valley on the same family land my roots have occupied for over six generations. My grandfathers taught me the dignity of good, local jobs that allowed families to build a future, while my grandmothers - both entrepreneurs - showed me the value of community, hard work, and stepping forward with courage. Those lessons have guided me throughout my life.
My early career in law enforcement taught me that trust is earned through honesty, integrity, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I learned that strong communities depend on leaders who are steady, accountable, and willing to stand up for what is right.
As a public school teacher, I saw firsthand the hopes and challenges facing our kids and families. I worked alongside dedicated educators and students fighting battles many never see. That experience reinforced my belief that every child deserves someone who believes in them, and every family deserves someone who listens.
These values continue to guide my nonprofit work, supporting communities recovering from natural disasters and families struggling with addiction. I’ve seen how fragile life can be - and how strong our people are when we come together. That resilience is what inspires me to serve and to fight for a better future for us all.
Today, I bring these same values to my work as a small business owner and through my career in the public business sector. I understand the pressures facing local businesses, the challenges that come with growth and lean times, and the importance of keeping jobs and opportunity rooted in our communities.
These experiences have strengthened my belief that a strong economy starts with supporting working families, building strong public schools, empowering small businesses and farms, and ensuring our region has the tools it needs to thrive.
